Archbishop Francis Assisi Chullikatt’s appointment on July 17, 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI as the Vatican’s top envoy at the UN, signifies the universal nature of the Catholic Church. Chullikat, 57, an India-born, assumes charge of Holy See Permanent Observer at the UN, replacing Archbishop Celestino Migliore, who last month was named the Vatican’s apostolic nuncio to Poland.


Schools in USA want collaborative programs with Indian Varsities

For US universities, India remains a frontier of sorts. Several prestigious schools across the United States are interested in partnering with Indian higher education institutions and developing collaborative degree programs. India historically has restricted the entry of foreign higher education providers, which cannot confer university degrees in-country — although, in the absence of a regulatory framework, collaborative arrangements between foreign universities and private Indian institutions at the program level have proliferated, and hundreds of such programs now exist.

FOKANA/FOMMA 2010 Conventions in the US
The Kerala community across the United States celebrated their culture and traditions with conventions for the second time, the Federation of Kerala Association in North America, (Fokana) in Albany, New York and the Federation of Malayalee Associations of America (Fomaa) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both the conventions were attended by a large number of Malayalees from around North America, showing that the split had not affected much on the attendance.
