Silent
martyrs...
Bipin Balakrishnan
I am still conscious
to feel those smiles
Those innocent faces waiting back home
Above that fated engine's spiteful humming
Assuring another hit and run for the law
I could feel no tears for an arm
severed
And broken ribs piercing a stinging heart
I am waiting hopeless for that messenger
As keepers of law or a reason for peace
Though fading, I could see those
eyes around
Reflecting mercy and my fearful death
I could read their minds and forgive their sin
It's not their conscience but the rules do slay
I am feeling thirsty and I know
it's time
I heard it's office hours, the roads are full
The keepers of law are still lost on the way
And my bleeding heart won't anymore stay
Last drops of water, as His welcome
rains
I could see a calm face and feel those words
Quenching my thirst with an assuring voice
'Let them hang me for these drops of life'
These words may end with death claiming
Yet another victim of a system that govern
May rules boast the harmony of existence
Still few oversights restrict rights of living!
These silent martyrs may prolong
the game
Of life and death, of rules and blind obsession
But those hands that served few drops of life
Still believe in life and may bring changes
